S'Cool Tools of the Week: Classflow, Bone Genius, Class Tech Tips, Book Creator

Aug 3, 2014

TOO COOL (PERFECT FOR SCHOOL): Ding ding! We've got our favorite edtech teacher and administrator tools for the week right here, as highlighted in our Instruct newsletter! Our fave S'Cool Tools are:

*Free! If you’re looking to communicate with your students in a BYOD classroom, Classflow may be for you. The software enables you to create and upload lesson plans, share them with students across devices and evaluate their responses. Think of the time you’ll save uploading and downloading those pesky attachments!

*Free! Memorizing Latin names can be tricky--but it can also be fun. Using Bone Genius, students can learn and test themselves on bone placement and names through challenges. Age-wise, we recommend Bone Genius for high school and up. Who knew skeletal anatomy could tickle our fun(ny) bones?

*Free! Looking for more S’Cool Tools? On her blog Class Tech Tips, education consultant and former teacher Monica Burns offers daily posts on her experiences and recommendations for resources, ranging from Flickr to Scholastic News to tips on QR codes.

*Freemium: It’s almost that time for students, aglow with summer stories and sunburns, to return to the classroom. Get some interactive answers to the age-old question, “What did you do this summer?” with Book Creator, which students can use to create multimedia stories on iPads, complete with photo, video, audio and text. Don’t leave the adventure tales for recess! The first book from Book Creator is free, and a one-time in-app purchase of $4.99 enables unlimited book creation.
