LOSS OF THE WRITTEN WORD: Is handwriting a dying art? The NYTimes recently asked whether technology may be the culprit. Common Core seems to have picked a side: the standards call for teaching legible writing only in kindergarten and first grade. Looks like our pencil just ran for cover.
