EDUCAUSE President to Hang Up the Spurs

Apr 3, 2014

PASSING THE BATON: After nearly a decade of leadership, EDUCAUSE President and CEO, Diana Oblinger, has announced plans to retire in March 2015. Oblinger will continue to execute on strategic initiatives for 2014-15 at the higher education technology association --which boasts 2,400 member institutions and 60K active members. The Board of Directors is expected to begin a new search near the end of April.

In addition to a storied academic and corporate career (including stints at IBM, Microsoft, the University of North Carolina, and the University of Missouri), Oblinger is credited with spurring the creation of the Next Generation Learning Challenges in collaboration with the Gates and Hewlett Foundations. The venerable grant-making apparatus has handed out some $55M in awards to-date.
