Miami-Dade Chooses Promethean and Microsoft

NOT DEAD YET: White both teachers and the stock market have been calling for the death knell of interactive whiteboards (IWBs), one provider is still alive and kicking. Promethean, one of the biggest suppliers, recently signed a contract with Miami-Dade County Public Schools to be the "exclusive supplier of interactive boards for over 10,000 classrooms." The district, the fourth-largest in the U.S. with about 350,000 students, also announced plans to deploy 100,000 HP and Lenovo Windows 8 devices as part of its 1:1 device initiative. Funding for these big purchases come from a $63 million plan approved in June 2013.
