Brazilian Startup Descomplica Raises $5M for Online Learning Portal

DESCOMPLICA: $5 million to Brazil-based Descomplica in a Series B round led by The Social+Capital Partnership, with angels and existing investors Valar Ventures, Valor Capital Group and 500 Startups also participating. The startup has now raised over $7 million. Launched in March 2011, Descomplica offers an online library of video lessons and SMS-based study tools to help high school students prepare for college. TheNextWeb reports the startup is looking to expand its online library of Portuguese-language lessons from 2,500 to 10,000 videos. According to TechCrunch, more than half a million students have watched a lesson, and over 200K are accessing it on mobile devices.
