WIFI WOES: An assessment of LA Unified's WiFi capacity found that only 208 out of 800 schools are ready to support every teacher and student on the network. It's dire news given that computer-based Common Core tests will begin this April. The district says it can bring 59 more schools up to speed by that time--but that will still leave 533 schools gasping for bandwidth. The district says plans to upgrade the infrastructure at 467 campuses will come out to $342 million. A member of the bond oversight committee says "this is another piece of the puzzle that they didn't think through" when officials decided on the $1 billion iPad rollout.
