VIRTUAL VIOLATION: A slew of recent EdWeek blog posts target issues with virtual schools. The first chronicles the woes of the Virtual Community School of Ohio, recently found to be violating special education policy. The big concern? The school’s website and artifacts are not “accessible to students with disabilities,” an issue that the school must correct by March 30, 2015. Beyond individual school issues, a larger concern is funding, and whether or not virtual schools should be “overhauled to better account for the actual cost of providing online education and to better account for student outcomes.”
