Coursera's Cool Crew

Nov 4, 2013

COOL COURSEREANS: Coursera announced this week that it has snapped up some big talent: John Ciancutti, who spent 12 years leading personalization at Netflix and later joined Facebook to direct engineering for Facebook Pages and other parts of the site, has been named Coursera's "chief product officer." Tom Willerer has become Coursera's first vice president of product management; he spent six years at Netflix and served as vice president for product innovation. They'll have plenty to do: Coursera's now has 5 million students, 100 universities and 500 courses as its own. Among Ciancutti and Willerer's new tasks: improving recommendations, student learning insights and social connectivity.
