MONTH OF MOOC: Coursera's MOOC on blended learning isn't the only one. Adding itself to the mix is one from Kent State University and Michigan Virtual University, which will be hosting a new course, "K-12 Teaching in the 21st Century." The free five-week long course, open to both teachers and students, will focus on the principles of connected learning--digging into topics like personalization, collaboration and reflective teaching. Each week participants will create an activity or lesson plan incorporating technology into the classroom. 500 people were enrolled as of October 4th. Participants who complete the course will receive a certificate, free of charge, backed by Michigan Virtual University; Michigan teachers will automatically receive 25 continuing education hours.
