Coursera Pumps Up Funding

Jul 10, 2013

KACHING WITH A CAPITAL LETTER: Coursera nails $43 million in additional funding, bringing its total funding raise to $65 million. The number of students taking Coursera classes is north of 4 milllion; 73 universities have signed up (with a smart payment system that costs the schools nothing until they start running classes). New funders include GSV Capital, Laureate Education and Learn Capital, as well as the World Bank’s investment arm (International Finance Corp.), and Russian entrepreneur Yuri Milner. That means there's only one path ahead: an initial public offering. Good details in this story from Forbes.
