BETA HAYSTACK EDU positions itself as a cross between LinkedIn and [fill-in-the-blank] online dating service for teachers. Educators are invited to fill out a profile that captures teaching experience, certifications, and educational background, as well as what type of teaching opportunity they are seeking. They can then narrow down school choices and "show interest" (like a Twitter follow) in any of the 130,000 schools across the country that Haystack has profiled. The idea is to represent teachers online as the professionals that they are in an effort to help them find and be found for full-time opportunities. For teachers happy with their current position, Haystack also provides resources to find non-full time opportunities. The product, currently in beta, was founded by TFA alum Thomas Hayes and has partnered with GreatSchools, 4.0 Schools, and The Idea Village.
