NEARPOD: $500K to Hallandale Beach, FL-based Nearpod in seed round led by NewSchools Venture Fund, with angels Clarence So (Salesforce) and Sina Shekou (Real Page) also chipping in. This brings the company's total funding to $1.5 million, according to TechCrunch. Launched in the summer of 2012, Nearpod allows teachers to create interactive lessons and presentations share them across iPads in the classrooms. It's picked up a slew of awards and honors along the way, including audience favorite at last summer's LAUNCH Education & Kids. Much of its success is built on the premise that 1:1 device adoption and BYOD implementations will become the norm in schools.
