BETA QUIKMAPS provides a hassle-free way to draw lines, place markers, and scribble notes on an interactive Google Map. It's not terribly different from Google Map Maker, but the controls are a little less restrictive for curious primary students who may want to draw a smiley face in the Pacific Ocean. Maps can be embedded on other sites, exported to KML format (a common map file format), or exported to GPX format for use with GPS devices. And if the Earth just isn't grand enough for your classrooms, there are also map canvasses for the Moon, Mars, and sky. Now if only you could build Mercator puzzles...
