NEW YORK NEW YORK: Newly-minted edtech incubator Socratic Labs has unveiled its inaugural class of eight companies. (GigaOM has brief descriptions of them here.) The financial terms are similar to the likes of Imagine K12 ($15-$20K, along with mentorship, classes and assistance with business setup logistics in exchange for equity). But the three-month program emphasize a spirit of collaboration with edtech startups and communities near and far. In the works is an "EdTech Passport" where participating organizations and members "can travel freely among networked programs and enjoy the perks of a local network in regional hubs around the country." No word yet on whether stowaways are allowed.
