Codecademy Adds API Tutorials that Put Programming into Practice

Jan 10, 2013

CREATE.READ.UPDATE.DELETE: Codecademy has unveiled a new series of courses aimed at building web and mobile apps on top of API services like YouTube, Twilio, and Parse. The tutorials will assist developers in incorporating tasks like sending text messages or retrieving audio from music services. While HTML5, CSS, and Javascript are absolute essentials for beginner web programmers, the move to explore API support is a step closer to the "programming excitement" that teacher Zach Weiner strove towards while teaching iOS to 4th graders. (Read his tale here.) Creating a simple website is a great milestone, but it doesn't compare to the apps that students (and new programmers of any age) download and explore everyday. Tip of the hat to TechCrunch.
