2012 EDUSTARS SURVEY: Edtech ecosystems are budding not just in the U.S., but especially in the world's second-most populous country. This survey, courtesy of Edustars, gives us a peek at the challenges and opportunities in the Indian edtech market, based on responses from over fifty early-stage startups (most with 0 to 10 employees). Toughing it out through long sales cycles, trying to gain user adoption and build traction, and generally figuring out how to build product awareness round out the companies' top concerns. Such challenges also hurt the startups' fundraising efforts. Clearly there's a need for others to support the fledgling infrastructure by providing a channel for visibility, partnerships, and networking opportunities. (Hint, hint.)
