THE WEEKEND'S BEST: Toronto-based startup Groupnotes bested 138 finalists from 60 countries to take home the grand prize in this year's Startup Weekend Global Startup Battle. Founded by current students at McMaster University and recent graduates from Sherdian College, Groupnotes offers a productivity tool for students and educators (as well as businesses) to collaborate while doing online research, with features like annotating and commenting on websites and sharing these notes on a group dashboard. Its value proposition: cutting back duplicate efforts (and wasted time) when doing online group work.
