Aspire Public Schools Receives Million Dollar Investment from Tipping Point

Nov 11, 2014

ASPIRE TO GET $$$: Announced yesterday, grant-making nonprofit Tipping Point Community has given a second million-dollar investment to Aspire Public Schools, a charter school system with 35 schools in California and 3 schools in Tennessee. This gift brings Tipping Point's total commitment to Aspire to over $5 million since 2009; Aspire received Tipping Point’s first $1 million investment back in 2013.

Tipping Point gives grants to organizations that fight the cycle of poverty, an endeavor that Tipping Point CEO Daniel Lurie believes that Aspire is trying to solve. “The high and increasing cost of living for families here in the Bay Area makes Aspire’s work absolutely critical to our region’s future,” he says. “Aspire is putting students on the path to college and giving them the tools they need to succeed once they get there." As to where the money goes, Aspire PR reps report that the investment is going to "general operating funds," as opposed to anything specific.
