NGSS Physical Science Assessment Writer Grades 6-12

Our platform, www.InnerOrbit.com, features high-integrity, NGSS-aligned assessments consisting of novel phenomena, scaffolded questions, and detailed 3D reports. We're seeking experienced NGSS assessment writers and reviewers, specifically in the secondary physical sciences. This part-time position will start immediately, be completely remote, and offer flexible work for qualified candidates with experience in science education and pedagogical best practice, secondary science curriculum and assessment development, and the Next Generation Science Standards. Contractors will receive coaching and feedback to support professional growth.

Qualified candidates will be:

• Experts in 3-Dimensional teaching, learning, and content development, with significant experience leveraging DCIs, CCCs, SEPs, and Evidence Statements in assessment design and instruction
• Feedback-driven collaborators who can thoughtfully apply coaching, revise in response to review, and continuously improve the quality and clarity of their work
• Adaptable contributors who can move across project needs, priorities, and workflows while maintaining strong attention to detail
• Advocates for equity in Science Education who believe all students deserve access to rigorous and thoughtfully scaffolded opportunities to engage in NGSS sensemaking

What you’ll do:

• Write and/or review NGSS-aligned assessments for grades 6-12, including phenomena, scaffolded question sequences, 3D-aligned items, and other related assessment supports
• Revise work based on feedback from internal review, using evidence statements and pedagogical best practices to strengthen alignment, rigor, and accessibility
• Collaborate with the content team to support content development across a range of project needs
• Upload and format content in the platform UI, ensuring materials are accurate, complete, and ready to use
