School Context

This is a large network of schools that spans both urban and suburban settings. They have a diverse student and teaching population that varies in experience and needs. They are spread over a large geographical area and it ix hard for them to connect in person.

State of Technology

This network for schools is trying to move away from isolation across their network. There is so much talent and wisdom among teachers, but it is extremely difficult to connect that talent and share because they are spread across a large geographical area. They would like to open up avenues for collaboration and sharing across the organization so that teachers could develop a set of PD resources and experiences through collaborative online environments.

Currently, the next of schools uses SharePoint to share files across the network. They use Youtube to deliver PD packages. However, they are unable to build out robust engagement around these videos or provide a robust layer of professional support. Their videos are usually 5-12 minutes. They highlight best practices across the organization and tips and tricks for curriculum development. However, they would like a more robust solution that brings all the resources into one place and fosters more collaboration around these resources, and among our teachers.

Tech Needs & Requirements

The tool must allow the following: permissions for administrators to flag high quality content; easy sharing and uploading of content; and integrate with Active Directory.

This network of schools needs to be able to track basic user engagement on the tool, but no more advanced than that. Ideally, they can export this data via CSV so that it supports their data aggregation project. It is not a non-negotiable for the data to be tied to the platform initially.

This network of schools needs this tool to integrate with Active Directory so they can pull the rosters of our teachers and leadership. They would also like it to integrate with Google Apps, so that it is easy to share content elegantly.
