MORE MATH: Wolfram Alpha is an interesting company: privately held, it has built its reputation on developing programs for heartbreakingly complicated math. Founder Stephen Wolfram is keenly interested in education and so the company has been reaching out to offer mathematical tools to the rest of us. Last week, it opened up its algebra-rich beta portal for math here, based on a flexbook developed by CK-12. You have to register for the site to get in--but there's plenty to explore once you're there. Wolfram also still runs it's handy homework helper, the Wolfram Alpha computational engine.
