TEACHERPRENEURS: The Center for Teaching Quality in Carrboro, NC, is all about supporting teachers. Established in 1999 as a nonprofit, the center recently published a book, Teaching 2030, which lays out a compelling vision of what education could be like for both students and teachers a mere 6,530 or so days from now. A core idea: a corps of "teacherpreneurs," 600,000 strong, who mix it up by combining teaching, mentoring, political leadership and other activities. (Here's an explanation by KQED's MindShift.) Sound like what you already do? Ah yes -- but do you get paid and recognized for it? Here's one explanation by California teacher, David Orphal or if you prefer, his TEDx talk. How's that work for you?
