DON'T SKIP: TruantToday, the young tag team (its founders are 16 and 18!) from Westlake Village, Calif., offers a messaging service that alerts parents when students cut class. They were recently spotlighted by NBC Education Nation's Innovation Challenge and was this week's featured startup in the NYTimes "You're the Boss." Our proposed challenge for their next product: an app that convinces truants to come skipping back to class.
