COOPERATING IN CONN: Meanwhile the folks from the aptly named "Constitution State" seem to be making more cooperative progress. In his NYT Op-ed, Mr. Nicholas Kristof writes, "New Haven has arguably become ground zero for school reform in America" due to the strong working relationship between the school district and teachers' union. The key according to New Haven Mayor John DeStefano Jr., is feedback. When 75 teachers were told they needed to improve last year, 41 did just that. The others (including 12 tenured) were released. This year, only 50 teachers received warnings.
