UP IN SMOKE: A previous plan by the U.S. State Department to buy a stack of Kindle Touches for sharing with embassies around the world has apparently gone up in smoke. Tip of the hat to RedOrbit which spotted this cancellation announcement. No word on whether the contract is up for bid again. paidContent reports that the department has since decided to "conduct additional market research and further explore technological options" with a Request for Information open to all vendors.
