SEED Grants For Improving Student Outcomes

Mar 14, 2012

SEED GRANTS: A $24.6 million federal grant under the Supporting Effective Educators Development (SEED) program has been awarded to the National Writing Project ($11.3M), Teach for America ($8.3M), and the New Teacher Center ($4.98M). This competitive grant was directed at non-profit projects that improve student outcomes, supported by "at least moderate evidence" to recruit and provide professional PD for teachers and principals. Valerie Strauss of the Washington Post thinks it could have been spent better.
