School Tool: Math Snacks

Dec 5, 2012

Free! MATH SNACKS is an interactive website where students in grades 3 through 8 can practice basic arithmetic and number theory. Developed by the Learning Games Lab at New Mexico State University, the collection of mathematics games and animations offers some unconventional explanations. Case in point? This Bad Date animation that gauges the success or failure of a date by the ratio of words spoken between couples. The game components, which require Adobe Flash, delve a bit deeper into concepts like coordinate pairs and base ten operations. Each animation includes a Learner's Guide, Teacher's Guide, and Comic Book Transcript available in PDF format.
