SAFARI HUNT: Pearson's got an eye out to acquire for-profit education companies in India, Brazil, China, and Africa, according to CFO Robin Freestone, who reportedly has the luxury of one billion pounds to spend on new deals this year. (Last year Pearson spent close to 900 million pounds on ten deals.) As with any portfolio, Pearson is looking to overseas markets to manage its risk. Pearson's North American education sales shrank by 2% to 2.6 billion pounds during 2011. By contrast, sales by its international education division grew 15% to 1.4 billion pounds.
