ANOTHER LOOK: The Gates Foundation has released its second set of preliminary findings from its Measuring Effective Teachers (MET) project, attempting to go beyond the "value-added" approach, alternatives to assessing teacher performance based on classroom observations "instruments" developed by researchers. But education professor Jay Greene says its mostly spin, noting that some of the results and "policy recommendations that are actually unsupported by the data."
