Ben Greenberg and Rui Xia, co-founders of Textyard, a web service that "scrapes" pricing information from college bookstores, announced they will make their code open source in hopes that students can create their own online stores to compete with campus bookstores, according to eCampusNews. Not everyone is convinced that data scraping is legal, well, except for the Textyard guys, who assert that their service "will not/cannot successfully be prosecuted under 'trespass by chatell' law."
