Mozilla's "Open Badges"

We wrote last week about Mozilla's "Open Badges" project, which is exploring badges as an alternative pathway to accreditation and credentialing. It includes the development of a broad and open infrastructure that can support the growing badge ecosystem and let learners create a living transcript of skills and achievements. One amendment: the project is funded internally by Mozilla with significant support from the John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. The Hewlett Foundation contribution previously mentioned is supporting Peer-2-Peer University assessment and badge development work for the P2PU learning environments which will eventually plug into the Mozilla open badge infrastructure.
