PEARSON PLANS: Pearson didn't get big by sitting still--and clearly doesn't intend to waste away. Indian tablet maker, Micromax, recently announced it would roll out its "Funbook" (Android at its core with a 7-inch touchscreen) and Pearson India will be onboard. Reviewers put the price at a pocket-friendly Rs 6500 (under $150). We double-checked, and yes, indeed Pearson India plans to partner with many tablet manufacturers for delivering K-12 and higher-ed content. It is planning pilots with both Samsung and Micromax throughout the year. And "where it makes strategic sense," Pearson will be sharing its content via other tablets around the world, the company confirms. (And that puts the number of low cost tablet makers in India at about three, according to this fan site.)
