1/3 MORE ANCHOVIES! After pinching through the biosphere, how about a slice of pizza? Math Chef, a 99-cent iPhone app developed by two Stanford School of Ed students, asks players to fill pizza orders, then takes them through scaffolded fraction problems. "As a math teacher I found fractions very challenging to teach and difficult for students to learn," says cofounder Colin Meltzer. "Fractions were disconnected from everyday life and did not focus on the concept." We couldn't agree more, Colin. After all, what elementary student doesn't prefer pepperoni to proper fractions? Five stars in the iTunes store. Check out Math Chef here. Tip of the hat for these contributions to Leonard Medlock, entrepreneur and Tweeter at @thelock85 and @barupmobi.
