NEXT GEN MODELS: Five middle and high schools will plunge into building whole-school blended learning models, thanks to winning $150K apiece in the most recent round of Next Gen Learning grants. (They're also eligible for another $300K in matching grants.) More grants to come for schools that show they're personalizing students' learning experiences in a sustainable way. Words of wisdom from John Glover, who's leading Alpha Public Schools in East San Jose: "Blended learning is still in its nascent stage and not everything is going to work as expected, so while thoughtful planning is important, effective implementation is the real key."
