GOT LITERACY? The Department of Education has just awarded $180 million to six states (in order of the size of the grants: TX, PA, LA, GA, NV, MT), to improve literacy for children from birth to grade 12. Those states will now hold competitions to subgrant those awards to local school districts, early ed providers, nonprofits, all of whom will have to come up with strong literacy programs. Lots of details about the program here, right down to the phone number of a state contact for each award. Many thanks to our grant expert friends at Redrock Reports for the tip.
