Gamedesk to open PlayerMaker School in Los Angeles

Sep 11, 2012

PLAYTIME: Non-profit research organization Gamedesk, which received a $3.8 million grant from AT&T back in summer to create a "classroom of the future" and an online portal for digital resources, will soon be opening its first school, PlayMaker School, within New Roads (a middle school) in Los Angeles. Sixty lucky 6th graders get to partake in this game-based school (similar to NYC's Quest to Learn), and embark on a "choose-your-own adventure story" where they will journey from "the Emerald Forest of Media Arts to the Cave of Physics." The school will also house the DreamLab which aims to provide PD to familiarize and involve teachers in the development of learning games. Can we say game on?
