Educreations Raises $2.2 Million Series A

Aug 14, 2012

EDUCREATIONS: $2.2 million in Series A round to SF-based Educreations from Accel Partners and NewSchools Venture Fund, with angels Matthew Greenfield, Tabreez Verjee, and David and Julia Popowitz participating. Accel's Rich Wong is joining the board. Part of ImagineK12's first graduating class in 2011, the startup offers a whiteboard app for the iPad that captures voice and handwriting to create video lessons that can be shared online. (It essentially allows anyone to create his or her own Khan-like lessons). The startup says more than 50,000 teachers use the app in 12,000 schools across 117 countries. We interviewed co-founder Chris Streeter at this year's Maker Faire--check it out here.
