BIG DATA DRAFT: Those hardworking Washington wonks have been toiling away on a report aimed at capturing what's going on with Big Data in edtech and so just released this draft. (Note to geeks: IBM has a lot to say about big data, too.) The Dept. of Ed draft seems to capture many trends (though we'd love to see just where the National Learning Registry fits in). Happily the department is still seeking feedback and input on issues such as: What would educators really like to get out of "big data"? How do entrepreneurs know they're collecting the mouse clicks and whatnot that really matter? What data can be shared? What must be kept private? This report is one part of a broad program to create more "evidence" for the role of edtech. Washington awaits your words.
