Many current educational coding tools focus on the current web craze (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), but as the name implies OPT helps people visualize Python -- a more general (and useful) programming language along the lines of Java, .NET, and PHP. If we just lost you, forward this to your schools CS guy or gal. OPT actually visualizes code as it's executed, helping students understand the code step-by-step. What drew us in is the ability to embed OPT visualizations in digital textbooks -- two such textbooks are already used at 25 universities worldwide.
