Apr 10, 2019

EARLY RENAISSANCE: Renaissance, a provider of assessment tools, has bought progress monitoring tools provider Early Learning Labs for an undisclosed amount.

The acquisition adds early-learning and curriculum-based measurement tools to Renaissance’s services suite, according to a news release Monday. The Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc.-based Renaissance claims its tools are used in a third of U.S. schools and in over 80 countries. Founded in 1986, Renaissance is best known for Accelerated Reader, Accelerated Math and STAR formative assessments for end-of-year state exams.

Early Learning Labs, founded in 2011, claims that over 12,500 schools nationwide use its myIGDIs platform to monitor 300,000 students.

Previous purchases by Renaissance include AlphaSmart in 2005, Subtext in 2013, UClass in 2015 and myON in March 2018. Private equity firm Francisco Partners bought Renaissance in 2018.
