Grand Canyon Education Acquires Healthcare Education Services Provider for $362M

Dec 18, 2018

GRAND ACQUISITION: Grand Canyon Education, a publicly-traded company that previously owned Grand Canyon University, has acquired Orbis Education Services, which partners with universities trying to expand their healthcare education programs. The deal was made for $362.5 million in cash and is slated to close in early 2019, according to a press release.

Orbis Education Services currently provides online program management services for 17 accredited U.S. universities, offering support ranging from building and staffing learning programs to online dashboards for curriculum.

In July, Grand Canyon Education sold off Grand Canyon University, turning the formerly for-profit institution into a private nonprofit. The company still works with the university by providing infrastructure and supports for Grand Canyon University’s 75,000 online students and nearly 20,000 in-person students.
