Shearwater Raises $600,000 in Seed Funding to Connect Students with Mentors

May 4, 2018

FUNDS FOR MENTORING: Shearwater, a company that helps students connect with mentors, has raised $600,000 in a Series Seed-1 funding round led by Rethink Education. The Boston-based company will use the money to expand its internal teams, including its product team, a spokesperson tells EdSurge.

Students and mentors in Shearwater’s program meet at least once a month, either in-person or digitally. The company attempts to match students with mentors from the same community. Those mentors might be young alumni, current students or professionals, the spokesperson says.
