Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Awards Over $5M in Grants to Support Teachers’ Development

Feb 6, 2018

TEACHER SUPPORT GRANTS: The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative has dispensed another round of grants, totaling $5 million, to several teacher-training organizations and a school district aimed at supporting teachers’ professional development and wellbeing.

The biggest chunk of change—$3 million—will go to the Woodrow Wilson Academy for Teaching and Learning, which runs programs that train and prepare future teachers.

Other recipients include the researchers at the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and the Harvard Graduate School of Education, who are studying methods to improve students’ and teachers’ emotional health. And teachers at Ravenswood City School District—in CZI’s backyard—will get access to professional development resources and mentorship opportunities.
