We’re Talkin’ About Practice: Instructure Acquires Video-Based Learning Platform

Dec 2, 2017

PRACTICE, a San Francisco-based startup that offers a video-based learning, feedback and assessment platform, has been acquired by Instructure, a publicly-traded company best known for its Canvas learning management system. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. As part of the transaction, Practice’s team of 22 will join Instructure (which has over 1,200 employees), and the product will be integrated into Instructure’s offerings.

Founded in 2011 (then known as ApprenNet), Practice offers a web and mobile portal where users can record and upload videos of their skill demonstration, and receive feedback from peers and coaches. The company claims more than 200,000 learners across higher-ed and corporate institutions including Arizona State University, Harvard Medical School and Teach for America.

Practice had raised close to $7 million in venture funding, to top of several grants from the National Science Foundation. More details in the press release.
