PARAGON ONE, a New York-based startup that offers an online career coaching platform, has raised $1.9 million in seed funding, TechCrunch reports. Investors include Y Combinator, Foundation Capital, Learn Capital, University Ventures, Li Yuan Ventures, Altair Ventures, and Chinese tech executives Jimmy Lai and Jeff Xiong.
Founded in 2015, Paragon One’s currently focuses on providing international students with live mentors and other career-related coaching to improve their prospects at landing a job. Its services include a customized assessment that aims to match users with the coaches and job opportunities that may best fit their results.
According to TechCrunch, the startup currently caters to Chinese students studying in the U.S. (The vast majority of the advisors on the website appear to be of Asian descent.) The company “usually requires a three-month subscription that costs about $2,000 to $3,000.”
