Early Childhood Startup, Brightwheel Raises $10M to Keep Parents and Teachers Connected

BRIGHTWHEEL, a San Francisco-based startup behind an app that connects parents with pre-K teachers and childcare centers, and raised $10 million in a Series A round led by GGV Capital. Other investors include Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and ICONIQ, along with a gaggle of existing backers that include Mark Cuban.

Founded in 2014, Brightwheel aims to provide an all-in-one communication app that allows teachers to keep parents posted on their child’s activities throughout the school day. Other features include an attendance tracker, payment management and assessments. The funding will help the team further refine its tool and double its team from 12 to 25, reports TechCrunch. Last year the company acquired Lisbon-based MyChild to bolster its offering.
