Google Partners With Internet2 to Ramp Up Use of Cloud Platform

CLOUD COLLEGES: Google has announced a partnership with research nonprofit Internet2 to increase use of Google Cloud Platform in higher education. Google says they will be working on big data and machine learning projects using its cloud tools. In June, Google offered an education grant for colleges to apply for free credits on its cloud platform, aiming to compete with Amazon and Microsoft’s cloud services on campuses. “We hope to develop projects that address the higher education community’s needs around big data and machine learning technologies that can be met by Google’s cloud tools,” wrote Bram Bout, director of Google for Education.
