TRANSWEB, an Indian startup that provides online tutoring via five websites—askIITians, eMedicalPrep, transtutors, transwebtutors and mycollegesabroad—has raised $120,000 from early-stage investor 500 Startups, VC Circle reports. The venture capital firm has purchased 6.5 percent of the company as part of the deal. Founded in 2006, Transweb operates a network of tutoring sites aimed at specific exams such as the Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination, All India Pre Medical Test or the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. It plans to use the funding for marketing transtutors.com and growing its team.
