GETTING MORE FOR YOUR MONEY: Need some training on how to teach financial literacy? Teachers College at Columbia University offers a virtual community of teachers, free lessons and teacher guides on their site Loot, Inc., to help you with that task. But wait, there’s more. On April 21, Teachers College announced that it would be expanding its Cowin Financial Literacy Program with a free, online professional development course in financial literacy—available to any teacher, anywhere. Beginning in January 2017, the 14-week course will be taught twice a year and draw from original case studies to teach basic financial concepts like budgeting, credit and investment.
