University of Central Florida Hacked, 63,000 Staff and Students' Data Compromised

Feb 22, 2016

COLLEGE CRISIS: Current and former students, staff and faculty at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando have had their records breached, according to a statement from the university's president. Intruders accessed the names, social security numbers and student ID numbers of roughly 63,000 people in the university's systems.

The university president said in a statement that he has ordered a review of the university's online policies. UCF discovered the breach in January but announced it in February to have time to conduct a digital forensic investigation. It has offered those affected a free year of credit monitoring and identity protection.
